Obituary for Leroy Rawlings

Leroy Rawlings departed this life after years of suffering, Friday night. His death occurred at an Indianapolis sanitarium where he had been taken a week before, and followed a stroke of paralysis. The funeral was Monday morning from the Methodist church and was in charge of Rev. Hovis assisted by Rev. Stewart and Greene. Mr. Rawlings was born in Jefferson county, Indiana, Feb. 5, 1829. He married in 1850 and his widow and one son, Carl, survive. He moved from Jefferson county to Monrovia then to Clayton and in 1860 to Cartersburg where he was agent for the Vandalia road for nine years. In 1874 he was elected recorder of Hendricks county and so served for one term. He was a local minister of the Methodist church and was a good citizen in all relations.
