Obituary for Susan Lilive "Lillie" Rawlings

“Lillie” Rawlings

Susan Lilive Rawlings, well-known Pittsboro resident and better-known to her friends as “Lillie” died, April 19, in the Golden Rule Nursing Home in Danville at the age of 91.

A native of Kentucky, she was born October 27, 1869. She was married to the late William D. Rawlings of Montclair, November 15, 1888, and they lived their entire married life at the family homestead in Montclair. He died in March of 1932. Following his death, she moved to Pittsboro where she was a member of the Christian Church.

Services in charge of the Gregory Funeral Home, were conducted, Friday afternoon, with the Rev. James Shockley officiating. Burial was in the Lizton K. of P. Cemetery.

Survivors include eight children: Mrs. Hazel Warren of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Mrs. Ruby Conner and Mrs. Nina Rader, both of Indianapolis, Mrs. Jennie Proctor of Greenwood, Mrs. Eva Turpin of Spencer, Elbert and Clyde Rawlings, both of Pittsboro, and Aldis Rawlings of Lizton; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
