Obituary for Reason R. Reeder

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, March 5, 1903—page 1, column 5:

Reason R. Reeder died Sunday morning after a lingering illness, age 64 years. Death was due to diseases contracted while a soldier during the Rebellion. The deceased was born at Barboursville, Ky., April 16, 1838. July 18, 1858, he was married to Margaret Messer, who survives. To this union nine children were born, eight of whom are living. All were present at the funeral but a son who lives in Ohio. In August 1861, Mr. Reeder enlisted in Co. H, 7th Kentucky Infantry and served for a term of three years. In 1868, he removed with his family to Indiana and about 1878 moved to Hendricks county. He was a member of Jesse S. Ogden Post, G.A.R. and of the Methodist church. The funeral was held at the home Tuesday afternoon. Services were conducted by Rev. E.D. Smith. Burial was in the south cemetery. The G.A.R. and W.R.C. attended the funeral in a body and services at the grave were conducted by the former. A squad from Co. K fired the military salute for the dead over the grave.
