Obituary for Lessie May (Pearcy) Relander

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, February 15, 1912—page 1, column 3:

Lessie May Pearcy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Pearcy, was born in Pittsboro, Indiana, June 17, 1885. She departed this life in Exeter, California, Feb. 7, 1912, aged 26 years seven months and twenty days. When she was a child of eight, her parents moved to the farm near Danville, Indiana, which continues to be the home of her mother. She was united in marriage to Fred C. Relander, July 21, 1902. She is survived by her husband, mother, and two sons, Frank Pearcy, aged seven, and Clifford Curtis, aged four. In 1906, the family moved to California in the hope that the climate might benefit her health which had always been frail. She returned somewhat improved. A second removal to California was made in 1910. Early in life she united with the Baptist church at Cartersburg of which church she continued a member. During the few months preceding her death, she suffered intense pain. Her short life was one of unselfish devotion to those about her. She was a loving wife and daughter, a dear mother to her little boys, a good neighbor and a kind friend.
