Mrs. Gladys Jones Smith Dies in Hospital

Mrs. Gladys Jones Smith, age 40, Indianapolis, Tuesday morning, following a brief illness from pneumonia. She had been under treatment for several months, but her condition did not become serious until last week.

Born six miles northeast of Danville, she was the daughter of the late Anson L. Jones and Mrs. Jones. She was married to Voris L. Smith and was a resident of Edgewood. A graduate of Central Normal College, she taught school at School No. 14 on Road 40. Her sister, Miss Catherine Jones, had substituted for her since her own school at Pittsboro had closed.

Surviving with the husband are the mother, Mrs. Laura Jones, of near Pittsboro; three sisters, Miss Jones, Mrs. Cordis Blanton and Mrs. Freda Jones, and four brothers, Herschell, Ralph, Clarence and Harry Jones.

Funeral services will be held at the Brownsburg Christian church, Friday afternoon at 3, with burial in Greenlawn cemetery at Brownsburg.
