Obituary for Lloyd W. Smith

Lloyd W. Smith, age 50, Plainfield, died, February 23. Services were Monday in the Plainfield Christian Church. Calling was at the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was assistant principal at School 108. He graduated from the University of Kentucky and received his master’s degree from Butler University. He taught for 28 years. He had served as Guilford Township trustee for seven years, resigning last year due to ill health. He was a member of the Plainfield Christian Church of which he was a board member; the Phi Delta Kappa fraternity; the Plainfield Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star; the Scottish Rite and was a former Bethel Guardian for Job’s Daughters in Plainfield. He was also an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving with the widow, Joan, is a son John; daughters, Barbara and Kathy, all at home; Merrietta Fong of St. Louis, Mo; sister, Mrs. Tony (Helen) Madden of Plainfield; brothers, Warren, Herman, Claude, Harold and Don of Kentucky; Wayne of Ohio, Paul of Tennessee, and Randall of Utah.
