MRS. CORA SMOOT DIES ON THURSDAY; FUNERAL SUNDAY
Saturday afternoon, January 22, funeral services for Mrs. Cora Hubbard Smoot were held at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church at Hazelwood, in charge of Rev. Dallas Renn. Burial was at Clayton cemetery. Mrs. Smoot died Thursday, January 20, at her home near Hazelwood at the age of 55 years.
Although frail of body, hers was a life of quiet, unobtrusive service to her church, family and friends. She was the daughter of David and Elmira Hubbard and was born January 15, 1883 at Crown Center. She lived there and in the surrounding communities while she grew to womanhood and was married on August 13, 1905 to Charles R. Smoot. She united with the Methodist church at Belleville and later moved her membership to the Baptist church at Hazelwood.
She is survived by the husband; two sons, Marion and Glen, a daughter -in-law, Marjorie; four brothers.
