At the time of Mr. Starr's death three nurses were present, taking care of him and his little daughter, Avis, who also is ill with typhoid. Mr. Starr was a member of the Coatesville Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Stilesville. He leaves a wife and six small children (Note: Carrie was pregnant with Cookie when Otis died- sr), a mother, brother and sister who have the sympathy of the community in their loss. Immediately after Mr. Starr's death, his daughter Avis was removed to the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller, in Stilesville, where she will be taken care of. She was reported not quite so well the first of the week. Dr. O'Brien, of this place, is now attending her, who says she is not yet over the fever.

John Tincher of Coatesville and Geo. Tincher, of Amo, attended the funeral of Otis Starr at Stilesville, Sunday.

Otis J. Starr, son of Clinton F. and Mary Reese Starr, was born on a farm near Stilesville, May 30, 1887. When quite a small lad his parents purchased a place near where he was born. Here he grew to manhood. He attended the Hebron school, finishing the grades. Then he entered the Stilesville High School, but on account of distance, bad roads, and not very rugged health, he was forced to quit school, but continued to help his father on the farm.

In the year 1901 he was united with the Baptist Church of Coatesville, and has lived a Christian life since. He also became a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge at Stilesville and was a great believer in the teachings of this order.

On June 8, 1907, he was united in marriage to Carrie E. Miller. Then he, with his young companion, began housekeeping in the same house in which he was born. After living here a few years he moved to a farm near Broad Park, where he lived until the death angel entered his home and claimed him at the age of 33 yrs., 4 months and 22 days. To this union six children have been born, namely: Clara, Avis, Emory, Dorothy, Charles and James.

Otis was always a general favorite among his companions, was honest, industrious and upright among his neighbors and friends who will miss his pleasant smile and kind words. He was a most dutiful son, a kind loving husband an father. He leaves besides this wife and six small children, a mother, Mrs. Mary Starr, one sister, Mrs. Lennie McCloud and one brother, Ray Starr and a host of friends and relatives to mourn his loss.

We shall meet, but we shall miss him,
There will be one vacant chair.
We will linger to caress him
When we breathe our evening prayer.

Card of Thanks

The family wishes to thank the neighbors and friends, also his brothers in the I.O.O.F. Lodge, who have been so kind during the sickness and death of our loved one, also all who so generously contributed toward the beautiful flowers.

Mrs. Otis J. Starr and family.

LOVING REMEMBRANCE

Of our dear father, Otis J. Starr, who passed away ten years ago, Oct. 22, 1930

How sweet is the memory of the
father we loved,
Who has gone on before us to
heaven above.
With patience he suffered; his
trouble he bore,
But now they are ended, he suffers
no more.
Sad was the parting; it filled us
with pain;
Thank God for the promise of
meeting again.

Sadly missed by his Children.
