Obituary for Charles S. Tedrowe

Charles S. Tedrowe of Indianapolis died Aug. 30. He was 86 and had formerly resided in Brownsburg.

Born July 26, 1916, in Indianapolis, he was a son of the late Thaddeus and Grace (Esmon) Tedrowe.

Mr. Tedrowe graduated from Butler University and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had worked in real estate, insurance, and development, and was involved in the development of the Black Beauty Coal Mines in Evansville.

He was a 50-year member of Prospect Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Murat Shrine and an 80-year member of the News Boy Band.

Survivors include his wife, Eloise Whitesell Buchholz; children Eloise Marietta Weymouth, Judith Rodd, C. Sam Tedrowe Jr. Kathleen Leamon, and Jon Tedrowe, stepchildren Rudy Buchholz, Pam Lewis, and Jim Buchholz; brothers Bob Tedrowe and John Tedrowe; 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his first wife, Aldeth (Phillips) Tedrowe.

Services will be 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at Leppert Life Story Funeral Home, Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th St., Indianapolis. Interment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.

Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 3 at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.
