North Salem, November 27 – Following a brief funeral service in charge of Rev. J.H. Craig at the residence at 9:30 this morning the remains of Frank THOMPSON, 67 were taken to Newman, Illinois for burial after rites at the Christian Church in that city. Mr. Thompson died of heart disease Wednesday out in a corn field at the Sam Wray farm where he was employed. His health had been failing for the past two years but his death came as a shock to the entire community. He was a highly respected citizen who had been active in political and public affairs. He was a member of the Christian Church at Newman, Illinois which was his early home. Harry and Duane Thompson two sons by a former marriage live near Lebanon. Mrs. Harry Rumon of Waynetown and Mrs. Josephine Owens of Canton, Ohio are sisters. Mr. Thompson had been shuck [ing] corn for Mr. Wray, who was in the field at the time of his death. When Mr. Thompson leaned on the wagon and complained of being ill, Mr. Wray went to him and was at his side when he slumped to the ground and died. W.T. Lawson, coroner of Hendricks County was called and pronounced heart disease as the immediate cause of his death.
