Obituary for Tempa (McCormick) Trester

from The Republican (Danville, Hendricks County, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, November 8, 1900--page 1, column 4:

[Pecksburg items]

Died, Nov. 2, of a complication of diseases, Mrs. Tempa Trester aged 47. Mrs. Trester had been an invalid for many months, but managed by strong will power to keep up until a few days before. She was married to Melvin Trester in 1872 and to them were born four sons, the youngest dying, a babe. She professed religion in her early girlhood and joined the M.E. church at Cherry Grove but later transferred her membership to the Lutheran church at this place. She often talked of death to her family and friends, and said althought [sic] she desired to live for the sake of her family, yet she was not afraid to die and longed to be at rest. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. R.N. Harvey at the Lutheran church here in the presence of a large concourse of friends and relatives. The pall bears [sic] were her brothers and sisters Mrs. Polina Lane, Mrs. Alice Grimes, Mrs. Myrtle Ryan, Howard, Alfred and Frank McCormick. The burial was at Amo. The sorely stricken family who feel that they do not know how to live without her have the sympathy of the community.
