Obituary for Eva (Schenck) Waters

Mrs. Eva S. Waters, familiarly known as “Tiny Mite” was found dead in her home in Pittsboro, Tuesday morning by her daughter, Mrs. Claude Reynolds, who lived next door. Mrs. Waters had returned to her home Monday night after a visit with her daughter and had evidently died while sitting in a chair as she was found on the floor with the chair on top of her.

Born near Fayette, she was the daughter of Thomas and Ida Schenck. She was married to Carl Waters who was killed in 1945. She was a member of the Pittsboro Methodist Church and the Woman’s Society of the church. Mrs. Waters was a secretary before her marriage, and was a writer of many articles under the pen name of “Tiny Mite”. She was also a member of the Poet’s Corner of Indianapolis and had contributed many poems in her life.

Mrs. Waters was a graduate of the Pittsboro High School and a member of the 1902 class that observed their 50th anniversary with all members living recently. She was the second member who has died in the last few months.

Funeral services will be this afternoon at 1 o’clock from the Gregory Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Lowell Morris. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Brownsburg.

Besides the daughter, Mrs. Reynolds, surviving are four grandchildren, John Waters Reynolds, serving in the Navy; Mrs. Wayne Good, Danville; Margaret Lou and Phillip Reynolds of Pittsboro; two brothers, Forest of Los Angeles, Calif., and Ralph of Valparaiso and a sister, Mrs. George Brown, Gary.
