Obituary for Benjamin F. Wing

from the Danville Gazette (Danville, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, April 4, 1935--page 8, column 4:

PITTSBORO

Benjamin F. Wing was born in Boone county, Indiana, March 5, 1856, and passed away while attending a meeting at Poplar Grove church Saturday afternoon, March 30. He was 79 years old.

Mr. Wing had been in failing health since November, 1933, but had been feeling unusually well at present and was in a jovial mood until the time of his death. He was the son of Henry and Elizabeth Jane Beaman Wing, both of whom are deceased. He was first married to Caroline McDaniel November 20, 1876 in Hendricks county. She died February 1, 1922. He was married the second time to Dora A. Scott of near Lizton on February 6, 1923. The widow survives.

The surviving children are Elmer Wing, near Jamestown; Mrs. Dora Reed of North Salem; Carl Wing, near Brownsburg, and Clarence Wing of Leavenworth, Kan. Four children died during infancy. Ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a brother, Henry Wing, of Indianapolis and two sisters, Mrs. Lena Malson of New Augusta and Mrs. Lillie Moore of Ocola, Ill., also survive.

Mr. Wing was a member of the Salem Primitive Baptist church near Clermont. He had been a resident of Indiana all his life with the exception of five years spent in Missouri.

Funeral services were conducted by Elder W.H. Schenck of Pittsboro at 2:30 Monday afternoon at the Mt. Tabor Baptist church near Fayette. Burial was at the Mt. Tabor cemetery.
