Obituary for Nevie (Ragan) Woods

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, February 20, 1913—page 2, columns 2-3:

The gentle loving Savior has again come into our midst and claimed one of his own in the passing of Nevie Ragan Woods at St. Petersburg, Florida, on Feb. 1, 1913. Nevie, the oldest daughter of Will Henry and Emma Ragan, both deceased, was born on a farm west of Fillmore, Indiana, on Feb. 13, 1861. She later moved with her parents to Clayton where she spent her childhood days. On Oct. 30, 1880, she was married to Nelson E. Woods. To this union were born three children, Mabel, wife of Will Swindler, Arthur and Ruth, who today with the husband mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother. Early in life she responded to the call of her Savior, first uniting with the Christian church at Clayton and later transferring to the M.E. church at Cherry Grove, where she was a member at the time of her death. Her life was beautiful because she walked with Jesus. Although she had been in poor health for a number of years she was a patient sufferer and all the while spread sunshine in her home and among her friends. She was always interested deeply in the welfare of her children, desiring that they should grow to noble manhood and womanhood and strive toward the things in life that count for real happiness. Her noblest thoughts and truest ideals were known only to those who knew her bet. She leaves to mourn their loss a husband, one son, two daughters, a grandson and granddaughter, a sister, Belle Ragan, of Chicago, and a large number of relatives and friends.
